Adam Grains Head Office

This is a business read off charts, so the screens were treated as a permanent condition rather than equipment to be hidden. The wall they sit on is a fine timber grid — small module, deep enough to hold shadow — which does two things at once: it gives the displays a surface that flatters them instead of competing, and it absorbs enough sound that a room with several live feeds does not become exhausting to sit in.

The principal's room is arranged so the desk faces the door and the city, with the meeting seats set low and in front of it. That is a deliberate order of precedence for a trading business, where most conversations are short and most decisions are taken at the desk. Storage runs up the opposite wall as an open metal-and-timber frame rather than closed cabinets, so the room keeps its depth and the window keeps its light.
